What comes first?

As I sit here pondering the next french fry recipe that we’ll be working on this weekend I can’t help but wonder “What comes first?“. Sort of like “What comes first? The chicken or the egg?”

What came first when the chefs at Alexia were creating some of their scrumptious french fry recipes? Did they choose the type of potato or the flavor combo first? The cut of the french fry or the catchy name?

Fortunately for the guys and I we are newbies at playing around with french fry recipes. Spending time in the kitchen together making batch after batch of french fries, trying them and making some more is definitely the approach for us. Then again too many chefs in the kitchen can be an issue. Right now we’re torn down the middle and trying to determine which recipe we will end up submitting. Will the savory combo win over the sweet one? Will waffle fries win the day or will the wedge trump it? Will we scratch everything that we have tried so far and start fresh? Who knows either way we are throughly enjoying the process.

Part of what I am enjoying the most with Alexia’s Reinvent a Classic French fry challenge, other than trying all of their different flavors, is that you guys can play along and give us ideas. So keep them coming y’all! You have me thinking outside of the box with some of your suggestions so far. Seriously keep sending across ideas, the monkeys are bound and determined to try each and everyone this summer. I will be shooting up a flare by August 25th.

While the boys and I continue to make a mess in the kitchen for the pure fun of it why don’t you check out some of the other participants that are having fun being creative this month with french fries.

Now there’s a fun way to spend time in the kitchen – testing french fries! I don’t know that there’s just one way to start a recipe, but I think no matter where you start you are bound to come up with something tasty.

I want a sweet potato fry with some brown sugar and cayenne pepper please. Could you get them to get that going soon please? Thanks. Love, Barb

This has definitely been a fun test. No doubt, people are feeling the challenge. But you have to admit it’s fun to eat all the fries. :)

I bet you and your boys are having so much fun testing and eating fries. We have just been thinking of flavors combinations that we like to eat and asking our friends & family for input. I just wished it wasn’t so hot here – with the deep fryer on – it gets pretty hot in our kitchen!
