Succulent Golden Plum Shrimp Bites & Giveaway

Did anyone else hear the gunfire on November 1st for the race to begin? I sure did. From now until New Year’s Day, I will be knee deep in magazines with my eyes crossed from hours and hours of perusing recipes. As much as I love making our traditional favorites, it is during the holidays that I feel the urge to try something new. Easy appetizers that flip tradition upside down are really a treat.

A classic that always makes an appearance during the holidays in our home is shrimp cocktail. Perfectly boiled shrimp with a little kick can’t be beat right. Well, maybe not but boy do I have a nifty twist on your usual shrimp appetizer and it involves jelly. Yep, you heard me jelly.

Well to be accurate Golden Plum Preserves.

All you need is some butter, white wine and sweet luscious Bonne Maman Golden Plum Preserves.

Let everything meld together, reducing  into a thick sweet sauce. Then toss in some fresh shrimp a little cracked pepper and Presto! What you end up with is a quick delicious appetizer that will wow everyone at the party from your boss to your in laws.

Ready to take it one more step and over the top? I know that y’all are. Cut thin strips of prosciutto and wrap them around each shrimp.

Oh yeah, there’s nothing quite like salty, sweet and savory all in one succulent little bite. Do you desire more Golden Plum Preserve Sauce on your shrimp? Serve the remainder as a dip, hello holiday high fives!

Okay are you guys ready for some fun? We adore Bonne Maman. It happens to be the guys go to sweet fix from PB&J’s to their morning bagels. Not to mention their jars are too cute, perfect for reusing. Tell me I’m not the only one with red and white gingham everywhere in my pantry. Now y’all know you want some preserves of your very own, and I am going to give you the chance to win some. The lovely folks down at Bonne Maman would like you to try out their new Golden Plum Preserves as well as their ever popular Strawberry and Fig Preserves too.

Bonne Maman has compensated me for this post and provided me with samples of the Golden Mirabelle Plum Preserves. All opinions are my own and I’m happy to share this product with my readers

Succulent Golden Plum Shrimp BitesMakes approx. 25- 50

1 pound shrimp, 41/60(small) or 26/40(medium) *cleaned & deveined*
3 tablespoons butter, unsalted
3 tablespoons Bonne Maman Golden Plum Preserves
3 tablespoons white wine, (Pinot Grigio works well)
1/8 teaspoon cracked pepper
salt to taste
1-2 ounces prosciutto

In a large skillet on medium high heat, melt the butter and golden plum preserves together until the butter begins to brown. Add the white wine, reduce the heat to medium low and stir until the sauce begins to slightly bubble and thicken. Toss in the shrimp and saute until the shrimp turn pink, approx. 5 minutes. Remove shrimp and set aside to cool. Reserve the remainder of the sauce for dipping if you choose.

Slice the prosciutto into long thin strips. Wrap each shrimp with the prosciutto slices while the shrimp are still warm.

Serve and enjoy these golden sweet bites with a hint of salt at your next party.

I have been enjoying Bonne Maman’s jams, preserves and jellies for years. And I just signed on for their newsletter. I never knew they had a website (though in this day and age, I should have). Nice to be able to find some interesting recipes there.

What a great little appetizer and those are my favorite preserves.

Marija November 24, 2012 at 4:08 pm

Do you serve the prosciutto wrapped shrimp warm or cold? I’m thinking of serving them for an appetizer party, but would rather not have to cook them at the last minute. Thanks!
