Password Mania

by Tickled Red on July 2, 2012

How often do you forget things? You know keys, wallet, your best friend’s birthday, {cough} kids at swim practice. No? Can you remember the bazillion passwords that you have now for all of the miscellaneous fun you are having online? Oh my goodness I have post it notes for my post it notes, especially for my passwords. I can’t tell you guys how many times I have had to click that little blue button FORGOT PASSWORD. Especially for Google, they probably have my avatar blown up to poster size, big red bull’s eye circles drawn around her and darts sticking out of her head I have asked for help so often.

What if I told you guys that Norton has come up with a nifty and safe solution. It is called Norton Identity Safe and seeing as how I could not remember my Norton password either today, I am thrilled that they have come up with this idea. Between the many social media sites, online stores and banking that we do I can’t ever seem to keep up all of the different passwords that we have floating around.

The beauty of my “safe” is that I can now store all of my important information safely in one spot, categorize them and make notations if need be. Usernames, passwords, account numbers, addresses, credit card numbers and frequent flyer numbers you name it. It allows you to be smart, save time and remember everything…brilliant!

Here are some other cool features that Norton Identity Safe offers.

  • Share with your friends straight from Identity Safe located on your tool bar.
  • The safe will let you know whether a site is bad, before it loads.
  • Search without fear and avoid bad sites.
  • If you decide to change browsers, your user names and passwords will always be available.
  • Stay mobile with free apps for your iOS and Android mobile devices, easily and securely accessing your favorite Web sites no matter where you are.

If that is not enough the program will even help generate safe passwords for your many sites. Other than the categories and safety aspects, this would be my one of my favorite features. If I had created better passwords my email account would not have been hacked multiple times back in the day. My friends still tease me about the ummm…risqué email that lovely hacker decided to send everyone listed in my Rolodex, and I mean everyone! Guess they could not resist being creative with an email address of tickledred.

Check out their video for more details.

If you are living in password mania like me and want, help Norton Identity Safe is offering a free trial for now! Click here to download Norton Identity Safe and give it a try.

Have any of you forgotten or lost your password? Tell me all about it and you could possibly win an Android Tablet! Your comment will automatically be entered into a sweepstakes to win one of five Android Tablets with Norton Mobile Security and Identity Safe installed on the device…sweet!

I’m off to play some more with my safe.

Hugs & Kisses,

Shari-Tickled Red

I’m just happy that I’m not alone….in not remembering and have to reset my passwords every month. I think I have at least 50 different accounts that require passwords and some that I don’t log-in often enough, I just have to re-set the passwords every single time. Quite frustrating when you are in a rush trying to get things done. This sounds like the perfect product for me.

Just recently, I lost our password for our kids schools site. This site lists messages, report cards and notices. What a pain to get it reset.

I often forget my passwords as I’ve often heard it’s bad to have the same password for everything, so this sounds like it would work wonder’s and I can feel secure about keeping up with passwords.

At work, our password has to change every couple months. I changed my password on a Friday and by Monday I forgot it and had to spend 30 minutes on the phone with IT to get it reset. Plus I had to admit I had forgotten it from only 3 days before!

I’ve had some trouble in the past trying to remember passwords to websites that I had signed up to unless I had wrote them down or made it something easy to remember if I visited them on a regular basis.

Have any of you forgotten or lost your password?

Ever hear about the recent password audit at a local business, it was found that a employee was using the following password:
MickeyMinniePlutoHueyLouieDeweyDonaldGoofySacramento
When asked why such a long password, she said she was told that it had to be at least 8 characters long and include at least one capital.

I was just tired of losing my passwords and obviously you shouldn’t write them on a sticky and put it on the computer which is what I did.. Hello breached facebook account

This isn’t my story, but I was just talking to my mom about it last night. My grandfather passed away a month ago, and since then my grandmother has locked herself out of her online bank account no less than 10 times (he used to pay the bills and now she has to do it). Each time she locks herself out, she has to call the bank helpline to unlock her, and it takes them an hour to walk her through resetting it. It’s crazy.

I am terrible with passwords. I use different passwords at important account sites for security. Once my computer died and I had to get a new one. My passwords were saved on the old computer and I had a heck of a time remembering/retrieving all my account passwords to log on with the new computer.

I rarely forget my password, but I do often forget the security question answers because I do not want them to be “easy”. The biggest mistake people make is making their password security questions answers similar to stuff they post online social networking sites.

I always used Roboform (a pasword/form filler) so when I lost my computer and got a new one a few years back. When I went to enter all my usual sites, I found that there were a couple that I had not saved the passwords for and on top of that, they were older sites I had visited for years and used a totally different email address for as well, I was never able to get back into one of those sites. Even with reregistering I could not get in because all the rest of my info was the same so it insisted I was already registered.

So now, I have a cheat sheet for all my passwords and usernames and it is SOOO freaking long its crazy! LOL But it keeps me from forgetting because I don’t have to remember! LOL
