Mushroom Parmesan Rice & Giveaway

by Tickled Red on April 15, 2013 · 204 comments

Our love of rice is not a secret; we haven’t exactly been shy about it, today though I want to talk about the nuances of rice. Have you ever noticed the distinctions in rice and by that, I don’t mean short vs. long or brown vs. white. Not all rice is the same every variety has its own subtle flavor, aroma and texture.

Take good jasmine rice for instance. Have you ever opened a jar of jasmine rice and simply stopped in your tracks to enjoy the bouquet of toasted butter drifting up to you? No, then you have truly been missing out.

RiceSelect Jasmati®,  which is a long grain American grown jasmine rice, will completely enchant you with its sweet perfume and subtle nutty flavor of exotic Thai jasmine rice and I am not just saying that. I was amazed at the difference in aroma and taste compared to the long grain rice that we normally use.

Part of what makes rice so endearing is its versatility, serving as an essential source of nutrition in so many global cuisines from Japanese sushi to our southern jambalaya’s and red rice.

As with this Mushroom Parmesan Rice which is one of our favorite dishes to make. Similar to a creamy risotto but much easier to make and on the table in a jiffy. The trick is toasting the Jasmati rice slightly along with lots of rich Parmesan to compliment the natural buttery nutty flavor of the rice.

Guess what RiceSelect Jasmati is offering you all a lovely giveaway this week!

Let us know “How do you spice up your family meals with rice?” and each comment will automatically be entered for $100 Visa gift card.

In the meantime pop on over to RiceSelect to see their world of flavors which you can enjoy. Personally, if their Jasmati Rice is any indication of what to expect I can’t wait to fill my pantry with each flavor.

We hope that you enjoy giving our recipe a try and we can’t wait to hear how you spice up your meals with rice!

All our love~ Shari & The Guys

*This is a sponsored post but all opinions and statements are my own* [print_this] Mushroom Parmesan RiceServes 4 Ingredients:

“How do you spice up your family meals with rice?” – I am NEW to cooking with ‘REAL’ Rice. I was raised on Minute Rice (Instant). I am learning to cook rice and have little experience with different types of real rice. I had my first risotto rice made by my son last June 2012. I love mushrooms… love Parmesan cheese… PLUS rice? … SCORE! Can’t wait to try this recipe…

Your rice dish looks amazing! I like to jazz up rice with some hot spices and flavors–maybe some red pepper, maybe jalapenos.

This looks so delicious! One way I spice up my rice is to use onion and leeks in it. They add a nice subtle sweetness to the dish.

Sheila April 15, 2013 at 11:20 am

We eat a lot of rice. I like to squeeze a lime in at the end and toss with parsley or cilantro.

I would make this! I have pinned this to try. Love mushrooms and rice!

Chris Sorel April 15, 2013 at 2:31 pm

My kids enjoy when I make it with 2 kinds of cheese. I have mixed with mushrooms for my wife and I but the kids do not like mushrooms. Add in some cilantro with salsa into rice for Mexican fajita night is great as well.

I totally love me some Saffron rice! The color is amazing and the flavor not only enhances whatever I put on or beside the rice, it jazzes up the bites I am sure to have plain.

Margot C April 16, 2013 at 3:21 am

I am from Louisiana and we always cook with “real” rice. I have about 5 different varieties at any given time (Basmanti, Jasmine, Carolina, Brown etc). I serve rice four nights out of seven at least.

Tomorrow, chicken curry with the jasmine rice. I always make the rice for curry by cooking the dry rice in about a teaspoon of coconut oil for a bit while I am boiling water in the tea kettle (maybe 3 minutes, some of the grains will become opaque – always stir the entire time!) then adding the water and a small amount of apple cider vinegar. it makes the most lovely rice.
